Most of you might have noticed that Windows 10 has a pre-installed firewall software. By default it is disabled, which means your computer is at a high risk of viruses and other malware. So, this makes it important for you to enable this useful feature ASAP. Below I have shared with you a step by step guide with images to enable Firewall in Windows 10.

1: Firstly open the Control Panel from start menu or from the desktop if you have a shortcut.control panel

2: Then click on “System and Security”.system and security

4: Now click on “Turn Windows Firewall On or Off” from the left pane.

5: Finally from the new window, check mark the relevant options for security and enable the firewall. In my case I have already enabled stage

Note: In case you have any other antivirus software installed, then ensure that you’ve enabled only one utility at a time. If you want to enable the Windows firewall, then you need to first disable the antivirus software.

Alternatively, if you want to disable the firewall, repeat the first 4 steps, and then from the firewall options window, choose “Turn Off Firewall”.

Why you need a Firewall?

Nowadays, Internet is full of hackers and other infected files that might infect your computer anytime. Moreover, when you are downloading a file from the internet, most of them have some kind of extension installers with infected files. However, having your firewall enabled can easily block or delete those files or even give you an instant alert that this file contains a virus or harmful files that can damage your machine. Moreover, Spywares can let hackers monitor your PC and they can have complete logs of your activities and also they can steal anything from your computer.

But not only “online” threats, you might also insert a portable USB drive that may have a virus in it. Windows 10’s firewall detects malicious programs and blocks any kind of malware. So, having a firewall enabled always keeps your computer safe from all types of virus threats and malware.

I hope this guide was helpful, and you have had no issues enabling your virus shield.
